Few women haven’t heard of SPANX. If you haven’t until now… you’re welcome.
What you wear UNDER your clothes, is just as important as what everyone can see. So use the secret weapon of stylists everywhere (Rachel Zoe herself swore by SPANX maternity shapewear during her recent pregnancy) and say goodbye to unwanted bulges, back-fat, double (and triple!) bum. There’s absolutely no shame in a little help sans-knife. The tiniest of celebrities (Kelly Ripa, and Sarah Jessica Parker) swear by SPANX to snug their assets, whereas curvacious stars like Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian use the genius-spandex formula to hug their curves. The billion-dollar brand is such a success (they were one of Oprah’s favorite things in 2000… thanks O!) you can now find a wide range of styles and colors for EVERY outfit and ANY occasion. Made for REAL women!
Marilyn Monroe was famously quoted saying, “I don’t know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot.” Pretty sure the iconic sex symbol and her infamous curves would have been equally spankful to SPANX founder and creator Sara Blakely. Two words: Shear. Genius.
Happy Canada Day! And Independence Day Eve Eve EVE. In celebration I’m profiling my three favorite colors of denim right now. As much as I live in my JBrand black skinny jeans, spring and summer is a time to lighten (and brighten) things up. I bought these rag & bone “crimson” jeans a few weeks ago (Lauren Conrad’s a fan!), and every time I wear them I’m stopped with complements. Sarah Jessica Parker lead this trend earlier this year, and it keeps on going…
I also love white jeans year-round. To mix things up from a skinny leg, wear flares with summer espadrilles or wedges. And in honor of the 4th of July – JBrand’s “cobalt” blue skinnies are a hit with Kim Kardashian, and top my wish-list. Let the bright-festive long-weekend festivities BEGIN.
My love of all-things orange is no secret. Here’s another way to wear it – color blocking and all!
I have five weddings in the next five months (not one is in the US…). They kick off this weekend in my homeland’s capital city, Ottawa (6.11!!). Above is my outfit for wedding 1.0. Inspired by Gucci’s spring/summer 2011 collection of bright color blocking green, orange, and purple – and celebrities like Kim K and Jessica Alba owning this trend – I bought the above pairing at Zara. The high-waisted “skirt with slit” is such a deep tangerine, it almost looks red. It’s fuchsia partner isn’t shown online, but the skirt would also look great with this deep jewel-tone-purple blouse tucked into it – aka, “blouse with tabs”. My clutch is my black Marc Jacobs quilted go-to, purchased in Vegas three years ago. The “quilting – Eugenie leather clutch” is still going strong as part of his signature collection. The finishing touch, my shoes, are my new Stuart Weiztman black patent round-toe pumps, purchased at Browns on a recent stint in Toronto. Stuart Weiztman is my #1 high-heel. He makes classic and stylish 2-5-3.25 inch pumps (NB: avoid anything less than 2 inches, just go for a flat – “kitten heels” don’t flatter anyone) that are wearable for hours without wanting to cry, they are to my feel what Jbrands are to my thighs. LOVE. Stay tuned for outfits 2, 3, 4 and 5.

I love a skinny black pant, they’re flattering and fashionable. Right now I’m coveting a (faux) leather black skinny legging. Most days and nights, I live in my J Brand black skinny jeans (I have four pairs in rotation – they are myuniform) but when it’s time to glam it up – get your shine on.
Kim wore her ‘Stealth’ with black leather ankle booties, exposing just the right amount of (sexy!!) skin before her pants start. Keeping everything else basic black, white and classic (even the subtle peacock feather necklace) works to let the shimmering pants work their magic. Hello airport-style.
Katherine’s ‘Stealth’ is less-subtle-more-statement while out in LA wearing gray suede slouched booties, layered scarves, and a python print bag. Her popping pink lips add finishing flare.
Who’s ‘Stealth’ gets your vote – Kim or Katherine? Subtle or statement?
The Kardashian sisters design for bebe as part of their ever-growing Kim-Kourtney-Khloé empire. Khloé’s faux fur vest photographed here is sadly no longer available… but thankfully faux fur is one of fall 2010′s hottest trends, and countless designers and retailers are helping us all fall into fur.
Khloé’s smart to keep the rest of her look simple and Kardashian-subdued, letting her fur be the statement item. Dark skinny jeans tucked into high over-the-knee black suede boots highlight her curves, while her black over-sized plastic Aviators bring it all together. Mrs. Odom you’re a 10!!

Whether left long, rolled (like Kim and Jessica), or cuffed (like Rachel) – ripped and shredded jeans are a look we’re loving through spring and summer 2010. Go for a baggier boyfriend fit, a slimmer skinny, or a straight-leg in between like the girls above have, you can see firsthand that blue, white, gray, and black denim ALL work from day-to-night. The right jean works Kardashian-style with sky-high Louboutins, ballerina-caus chez Alba, or paired with this season’s hot clogs à la Bilson.
Medium wash denim looks great against crisp-white tees, and really shines offsetting a navy blazer on top. Kim’s wearing a Zara blazer (not online), and bebe jeans (not online – see Kardashians for bebe) – paired with an Alexander Wang tshirt and Christian Louboutin heels (not online). 10!
