Summer’s come to an end, and we’re knee-deep in fall fashion. But right now all I can think about is the perfect purse for an upcoming destination wedding in Anguilla this November. And I’ve found it – the St Louis Tote by Goyard. I’m not alone. This go-to can be see all around the globe on celebrities and fashionable girls. Many have several styles and several colors (the Kardashian clan is in double digits by my count). Gwyneth monogrammed hers “G.K.P.M”, which I assume stands for ‘Gwyneth Kate Paltrow Martin’. Diane Kruger stops traffic with yellow and red stripes, and Nicky Hilton has a trifecta of red, yellow and green with her initials. Monogrammed or not, the St Louis is a chic beach bag, carry-on, diaper bag, gym bag, and commuter go-to. I’m currently dreaming about the white one Cameron Diaz wore in “What Happens in Vegas” – among others.
And because my fashion operations always come with a twist, Goyards are hard to come by. Sold by select Barneys (in stores only) and a few Bergdorfs (same); your best bet is to visit (or call) the only US Goyard boutique, located in San Fransisco. eBay is another option, but be wary of fakes. The only remaining question is, do I want white à la Nicole; light blue à la Gwyenth; bright blue à la Kendall; orange à la Kris; yellow Kim and Kourtney; or black à la Hilary? Decisions!!
Blush Blazers are a go-to for spring and summer that can be worn right into fall… their neutral palette goes with everything!! Without competing to be the focus of your outfit, this blazer keeps you cool from day to night – battling over-air-conditioning and breezy nights. Worn over a tank or blouse with white skinny jeans and nude patent round-toe pumps, you’ve got your summer uniform. Softer and more feminine than beige (although I love Gwyneth’s look too), you can opt for an oversized boyfriend or more fitted style. Even men (ahem Justin Bieber…) are BLUSHING.
She’s got style. She’s got grace. Not just another pretty face, Gwyneth Paltrow has BEAUTY and BRAINS. An Academy Award wining actress (“Shakespeare in Love”), model (Estee Lauder and Tod’s), singer (“Country Strong” and “Glee”), mother of two (Apple and Moses), and now – chef / writer. She’s taken her online newsletter / blog “GOOP” to another level with this month’s release of her first cookbook, “My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness”. Gwyn’s love for cooking starting at a young age as shared passion between her and her late father (Producer Bruce Paltrow was the self-proclaimed love of her life until his death in 2002). The proud host of all-organic dinner parties for famous friends included in the book’s dedication such as the Spielbergs, and Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Her close friend and world-renowned chef, Mario Batali wrote the forward. So how can a foodie stay so long, lean, and… glowing at 38??
The book tells ALL. Gwyneth’s must-have items for your pantry include bragg liquid aminos, King Arthur bread flour, bomba rice and Vegenaise. She’s committed and motivated, but not vigilant and totally extreme – to her passion for healthy eating and delicious cooking. Clearly, it’s working.
On her preference for healthy ingredients: “Could I use some butter and cheese and eggs in my cooking without going down some kind of hippie shame spiral? Yes. Of course I could.”
On hosting a successful dinner: “You just need some good ingredients and a few simple recipes, maybe a couple of jokes or a ‘topic to dissect’ at the table, the way they do at Nora Ephron’s house.”
On breakfast: “Food preferences are easy to contend with — set out a large bowl of granola and have all different fixins on the side — berries, flax meal, yogurt, cow’s milk, soy milk, hemp milk.”
On her favorite savory breakfast: “I first had a version of this at a Japanese monastery during a silent retreat — don’t ask, it’s a long story.”
On zucchini: “When I pass a flowering zucchini plant in a garden, my heart skips a beat.”
On her pizza oven: “We’ve got a wood-burning pizza oven in the garden — a luxury, I know, but it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made.”
On one of her kids’ favorite dishes: “Oh, how my heart leaps when I see them munching down kale with brown rice.”
On being macrobiotic: “During the strict macrobiotic chapter of my life, I ate miso soup every day for breakfast and sometimes with dinner as well.”
On her kids’ love for broccoli: “Luckily, my children love broccoli, and although we sometimes enter into UN-like negotiations about how many ‘trees’ they need to eat before they can partake of ice cream, it is a vegetable that they tend to embrace.”
Pretty sure I know who’s house I want to go to for dinner – just me, Gwyn, Apple, Moses and Chris.
And ladies and gents – this book makes a great Mother’s Day (May 8th) gift … Mmmm-delicious.
“Put on a trench, you’re suddenly Audrey Hepburn walking along the Seine
– even if you’ve got red hair and you’re five one.” – Michael Kors
There’s something incredible about this fashion staple. It makes every designer, stylist and fashion expert’s top 10 must-haves list for a reason. A trench coat is instantly chic and so transitional.
Whether you’re going from day to night, winter to spring, spring to summer, summer to fall, or fall to winter: a trend has you covered. Figuratively and literally. So buy a great one at a level that’s considered an investment for you. Take care of it, wear it with pride, and keep it FOREVER. This coat is never going out of style, and as we see with Jessica (Alba), Jennifer, Jessica (Biel), and Gwyneth – there are many lovable takes offering fresh style to this timeless and classic look.
The right trend is nothing but flattering. A longer length like Gwyneth’s hides your stomach, knees, thighs and hips, while a belt emphasizes (or creates) a waist and curves. Shorter styles (like Jessica Biel’s) can easily appear more casual and effortless during the day, but can still be dressed up (like Jennifer’s) when you want more glam. The right hardware (buttons, pockets, zippers, epaulettes, ruffles, belts, snaps, bows) make all the difference. Whether you’re running to the grocery store or dressed to the nines, no one needs to know what’s underneath…. It’s all part of the allure.
The old adage never wear white after Labor Day is long gone, and with good riddance. White is great go-to color, all-year. Although it admittedly pops against a tan and darker complexion, it can still be luscious against pale skin that’s untouched by the sun. Whether you keep it to one item like a blazer, or rock it head-to-toe (a wool suit skirt perhaps?) – as long as you keep the material seasonally appropriate (i.e. don’t wear linen in the winter months of the East Coast) it works.
AnneLynne and Gwyn opted for longer boyfriend cuts, while Cameron’s has a shrunken feel. Regardless of where you live, Cameron’s look is nothing-but-perfection for cooler months with a loose black top underneath and her dark gray scarf. AnnaLynne’s blazer over her blush strapless cocktail dress is another perfect 10. And Gwyneth’s on-trend light-wash skinnies and white tee, perfectly pulled together with her white bf hits the mark. If you’re looking for one piece to update your signature style, taking you from day to night, the office to a night out - the white blazer is it.
Cruising down Rodeo Drive, you’ll see the flashiest rides that money can buy. When you’re accustomed to driving in style and nothing but the best will do, you want the same for your “mini”.
Don’t fret that you’ll have to wait for Xzibit to “Pimp Your Ride”. There is an affordable option and it just happens to be the best all-purpose double stroller on the market. The Phil & Ted’s stroller is the finest import from New Zealand since the Flight of the Concords and Keisha Castle-Hughes.
- Smooth ride with its inflatable rubber wheels creates a perfect setting for your baby to fall asleep. Let me repeat, your baby will FALL ASLEEP… see below☺!!
- Three wheeled design makes it highly maneuverable and one-handed steering allows you fully multi-task with your other hand (cell phone, latte, signing credit card slips)
- No bigger than a regular jogging stroller and its in-line design for carrying two kids, its great for families on the move
- Folds easily and fits in the trunk of your car
- Ideal out on shopping trips with its under carriage storage and optional saddle bags.
Don’t just take my word for it, Madonna, Jack Black, Gwyneth Paltrow, Halle Berry, Naomi Watts and others agree (see below for some A-list celeb Phil & Ted loving!!).
Blake Lively wowed in Boston last month at “The Town” premiere, in Antonio Berardi’s Fall 2010 black sheath dress. The highlight of the dress is the eye-popping splash of lace at the bust channeling a bustier. Also in Antonio Berardi, Gwyneth wore a floor-length gown to the 150th anniversary of Chopard in New York back in May. This $$$lux designer’s coveted looks are amazing. And thankfully the rest of us can bring it to our everyday looks by adding a splash of lace.
Lace is a detail that can rev your style up from “oh” to “oh la là.” Whether you wear a cami under a sheer blouse, under a blazer, or peaking out of a dress (like Blake)… Work it girl! Do your thang… on the runway (sorry, RuPaul: “Cover Girl” sidebar). Basic lace essentials for your closet are: white, cream, nude, taupe, beige, black, grays and pastel hues. Hanky Panky is our $$chic go-to here, their camis are as AMAZING as their thongs. More daring divas can experiment with lace (and leather) accented bustiers for days when you want to convey a little (or a lot) of va va va VOOM…

The sexiest outfits leave certain things to the imagination, being suggestive without showing; teasing without telling – after all…
“Sex appeal is fifty percent what you’ve got and fifty percent what people think you’ve got.”
Paltrow, PRADA and Pink… equals Perfection. We love how Gwyn’s hot-pink pieces pop against the red carpet. Keeping her PRADA shift, open-toe suede Christian Louboutin’s (close-toe only online), toe-nails and lips all in various shades of pink, Paltrow offset the smashing hues with green emerald Bulgari beads, and jade eyeliner – creating a pink-green combo deserving of an A++!!
Bringing out her gorgeous eyes, Gwyn’s sultry green details counteract what could have been some serious pink-overload… And last but not least, she tops the glam outfit off with a bouffant-style up-do, adding just the right touch of 70′s complement to her chic retro-shift-dress.
Who said the red carpet was just for skirts and dresses? For the LA premiere of “Iron Man 2″, Gwyneth glowed in a GORGEOUS Giorgio Armani white short-suit – glammed up with a black clutch and Gianvito Rossi shoe-booties – the final touch, her nude finger nails and deep red toes.
