 If you loved Robin’s blouse on last night’s midseason finale of “How I Met Your Mother” – here it is! Equipment’s Brett Colorblock blouse (Canada) is great with jeans or dress pants. Robin’s black cherry J Brand 811′s are a great complement to the colorblock natural white/black. If you’re looking for a cozier alternative to denim, try corduroy. I love my J Brand black skinnies, as well as the haze-colored-flared-style SJP is wearing above (in Juicy Couture, sadly no longer available). Her floppy hat is right on trend, I have a similar one by Hat Attack and I covet it’s black and grey sibling. Parker’s gorgeous leopard scarf is YSL, the look can be found more affordably by Tory Burch. Her rolled-up flares, brown ankle boots, purple suede hobo, and white-tank with black bra peaking through all give her that effortlessly chic SJP-style we’ve grown to LOVE.
must-have: angora fedora
Gearing up for an East Coast winter, I welcomed two Hat Attack purchases from Dealuxe this week. The charcoal Angora Fedora (#1) and the chocolate brown Vicky Floppy hat. I’ve always loved hats, they’re a go-to accessory where fashion meets function… keeping your hair protected, head warm, and your outfit oh-so chic in one of the quickest ways possible. Depending on the color(s) of your jacket(s), I suggest the grey for blondes, and the taupe for brunettes (#2) – angora rabbit fur makes a great neutral that works with countless styles of coats, jackets and blazers. For the daring, the Beaver finished fem fedora with self band (#3) takes this statement style to another level. And the Aspen Hat in green (with teal), white (with yellow), and black (with grey) shouldn’t be missed.

Skinny jeans are nothing new, but it might be time to consider a different hue. Wow, while my rhyming might be a bit much – Current/Elliott’s “The Stiletto Leopard Print Pants” are not! Coming in camel (Mandy Moore style) and gray leopard (Ã la Sarah Jessica and Isla), these statement pants are a trendy piece you can build your outfit around. Soft animal prints (leopard, cheetah, snakeskin, zebra) are a great neutral, so while with the camel mustard colour you want the rest of your outfit to be black, gray or white; with the gray and black style there’s room for color (like SJP’s pink coat or Isla’s red shoes) – just avoid the urge to go wild, and keep it to one item. And as always with animal prints, you only want to wear one patterned piece per outfit. Grrr!

GLAMOUR magazine’s October 2011 issue is dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And cover girls Alicia Keys, Jennifer Aniston, and Demi Moore are walking the walk. Their interviews profile each celeb’s involvement in helping launch the women’s advocacy project: Five, a series of films about women and breast cancer. The two-hour feature, airing on Lifetime on October 10, is a series showing how breast cancer affects women’s lives, families and friendships. Alicia, Jen and Demi each directed a film with stars of the pieces including some of Hollywood’s strongest actresses, like Rosario Dawson. Sadly, everyone is affected by this tragic disease, giving even more reason to fight it. So tune in and become empowered to envision a future without breast cancer.
fall flat black boot
If you’re looking for a new fall boot, consider a flat black leather to (or above) the knee style. My closest girlfriend and client, and I just got her the J.CREW Booker Boots in black (NB: the brown that looks great online, but it’s a bit orange in person). Without any hardware, they are totally chic and can be worn day and night. With two young kids, function is key. But for heel-die-hards, petite gals and fall 2011 ’70s trend lovers the Booker boots also come with a “mid-heel“. I haven’t bought myself a new pair yet, but I’m currently coveting Loeffler Randall’s Riley flat zip boot. I love an exposed gold zipper up the back. It pops against black, the perfect classic touch. Another client of mine wanted more value than splurge, she’s excitingly sporting ZARA’s Boot With Zipped Cap-Toe.
